The Rim Area Gardeners will host their annual Mogollon Garden Tour Saturday, June 25. Tickets are $5 per person and can be bought at the Pine and Payson post offices, the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce office and at Ace Hardware. The tour is scheduled to feature a half-dozen gardens — three in Payson, one in Star Valley, one in Whispering Pines and the other in Washington Park.

Moose Lodge swap meet

The Moose Lodge in Star Valley will hold a Swap Meet starting at 7 a.m., Friday, June 17 and Saturday June 18, Everyone is welcome to participate, as space permits. Sellers need to bring their own table.

Fry bread will be served on Friday, and burgers and hot dogs are on the menu Saturday.

Rummage Sale June 17-18

Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway, will have a Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18 to help defray children’s summer camp expenses.

Garden Tour tickets available

• Monument Peak group hike: 8 a.m., meet at Monument Peak Trailhead

Monument Peak hike

There will be a group hike of Monument Peak Trail starting at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 18.

The free hike is hosted by the town’s parks department.

The trail follows the base of Monument Peak and runs along the side of a seasonal stream bed.

The three-mile hike is classed as easy. Meet at the Monument Peak Trailhead, 3.3 miles east of Highway 260 on Granite Dells Road, which is where the hike will begin and end.

Christian songwriters invited to showcase event

Uptown Espresso is showcasing Christian songwriters from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 18. Area Christian songwriters are invited to come share their songs of praise and their work for the Lord.

Sign up today with Nancy for a time slot. Each artist will be allowed to present up to nine songs. All ages, all experience levels are welcome, as is the public. This is a free event.

Concert Under the Stars

The John Scott Band will perform at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 18 in the Green Valley Park Amphitheater as part of the town’s free Concert Under the Stars series.

The local band specializes in “rockin’ blues” and features favorites from Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King and more. Dancing is encouraged.

Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

June 19 Sunday

• Rim Country Museum: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., 700 Green Valley Pkwy.

• Pine/Strawberry Museum: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Pine Community Center

• Bingo: 1 p.m., Elks Lodge, open to the public

GLH Memorial Roping cancelled

Due to the concerns about the EHV-1 (equine respiratory) virus and Jr. Rodeo Finals location changes, the Gracie Lee Haught Memorial Roping, scheduled for Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19, has been cancelled by organizers.

A special Gracie Lee Haught Barrel Race is still planned for later this summer and the roping event will return in 2012.
