Rimstones Rock Club Awards College Scholarships To Two Students


The Payson Rimstones Rock Club as part of its community education program, has just awarded college scholarships totaling $3,000 to two Payson High School graduates.

Jeb Ward, who plans on majoring in biology at Northern Arizona University, will receive $1,800 for the 2011/2012 school year and Daniel Conley, who will major in math and secondary education, will receive $1,200. The scholarships are rewarded annually to science majors and can be renewed annually on a competitive basis.

Jeb Ward has been active in the community and school as FFA president, Eagle Boy Scout, varsity soccer and wrestling, a life guard at Taylor Pool and active in his church.

Daniel Conley, who had a 4.0 grade average, has been a state champion mountain and road biker, active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, president of the Key Club, active in his local church and was a member of the Payson High cross country team.

Funding for our scholarship program is derived from the proceeds of our annual Mineral and Gem Show which this year will be held Nov. 19-20 at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino Event Center.
