PAWS in the Park

PAWS in the Park, the group that built the off-leash Payson Dog Park in Rumsey Park, will have a meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 2 at the meeting room of the Payson Public Library.

A light dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with the meeting following at about 7 p.m. Users of the dog park are invited to attend and share their concerns, questions and ideas.

Genealogy Society meeting Thursday

The Northern Gila County Genealogical Society will be holding its monthly meeting and program at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 3 at the society’s library at 302 E. Bonita St., Payson.

The program will be given by Eddie Armer, following the business meeting. Armer’s family dates back to the early 20th century in the Payson area. He is an author, local historian and cowboy.

Author speaks to computer group

The Payson Area Computer Association is proud to host author Abby Stokes as its speaker at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 4 in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library. This meeting is free and open to the public. Stokes, a gifted speaker, has written the book Is This Thing On?

Ponderosa Men’s Breakfast

Another fabulous “Breakfast for a Buck” will be served at Ponderosa Baptist Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway, at 8 a.m., Saturday, March 5.

The featured speaker will be Ed Miller, who will share about his Jewish heritage and his Christ-centered faith. Duane Stark will also share briefly about his next mission trip.

American Legion Riders to meet Saturday

The American Legion Riders’ March meeting is at Tiny’s Restaurant on Saturday, March 5.

Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m., with a business meeting to follow at 10 a.m.

Major topics include the direct mail campaign to Rim Country Chamber members and the placement of posters at area business members.

The group is now entertaining the nomination of merchants to serve as Bead Run stops for the Charity run to benefit Payson Supply Line.

After adjournment, members will move to the Post to stuff envelopes for the direct mail campaign.

All members and interested parties are invited to participate.

Beyond Limits Disability Ministry

A great evening has been planned for this month’s meeting of Beyond Limits from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 8 at Mountain Bible Church, 302 E. Rancho Road, Payson.

A delicious free dinner will be followed by a musical program by the Mountain Bible high school worship team. Pastor Jim Harper will provide encouragement and inspiration from God’s Word. Family members, caregivers and service providers are always welcome to join us.

Beyond Limits is an interdenominational Christian group for adults with developmental disabilities. The ministry, which began in the summer of 2005, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. For questions or further information, call Mark or Jennie Smith at (928) 468-8434.

Community Breakfast

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church is hosting a community breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Friday, March 11 at 507 W. Wade Lane. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, coffee and juice.

Rim County residents and visitors are invited to join us for food and fellowship. A free will offering will be accepted.

Daughters of the American Revolution

The March meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, March 11 in the Payson Public Library conference room. The guest speaker will be the distinguished DAR Honorary State Regent, Dawn Hines. Her topic will be the “World War II Monument.”  Guests and prospective DAR members are welcome to attend.
