Maybe the town council should take their stiff neck bow ties off, kick back in their soft chairs and remember the good old days when we first started out playing in old dirt lots.
Most of those old dirt lots have given way to the progress of developers. So now we have an “event center” to replace them, except the city wants to turn that into a dollar.
The city isn’t going to fix any budget shortfall by charging for the use of this great meeting place. Event centers are places where we can enjoy the fruits of our labor, help keep families doing things together, and carrying on the good old American way we have somehow lost for the most part.
If we use the center, carry our own trash away, and in general, take care of it, why try to turn it into another part of the “progress of man”?
Let’s keep it simple and down to earth, where most of us live with both feet on the ground, not in a city bought La-Z-Boy recliner.
