Gardening books are two for the price of one during the month of March at the LFOP Bookstore inside Payson Public Library.

Free tax help and free e-filing

Free tax preparation and free electronic filing is provided by AARP volunteers in Payson.

AARP Tax-Aide is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with IRS. The free service is provided to low and moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older. It is available from Feb. 1 through April 15 at the following locations and times:

• Payson Elks Lodge, at the southwest corner of Airport Road and Beeline Highway – Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Gila Community College, Mud Springs Road – Thursday, Feb. 27, March 3, 10, 17, 31, April 7, 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed on March 24 due to Gila Community College spring break).

Tax filers need to bring: a picture ID, Social Security card for all persons claimed on the return, last year’s tax return, 2010 tax documents and proof of real estate taxes actually paid in 2010.

No appointments will be taken.

Library bookstore specials

During March, the Library Friends of Payson Bookstore is offering a two for one special on a large selection of gardening books. The bookstore’s collection of nature, science and animal books also will be on special at two for the price of one during March. The bookstore has a large collection of children’s and young adult books, many of which are Accelerated Reader titles. None of these books is priced over $1 and often are in the 10-to-25-cent range.
