Lions International helps Japan

Payson Lions Club asks the community’s help making the hope for a brighter tomorrow for those who so urgently need. The most immediate way to give hope is through a designated donation to Lions Club International Foundation.

Making a designated donation to provide relief in Japan, Lions and LCIF play an important role supporting both the immediate and long-term needs of a community.

Every donation helps. An individual’s gift as small as $25 U.S. can have a significant impact by providing an entire family with water, food, and clothing for one week following a disaster.

Please make your donation check to Lions Clubs International Foundation/ Japan and mail to LCIF, 300 W. 22nd St., Oak Brook, IL 60523, USA, Attn.: Donor Processing.

The Payson Community Presbyterian Church will host the third Payson Dead Folk Singers Society Gathering at 7 p.m., Friday, March 18. A suggested donation of $5 is requested.

The Dead Folk Singers Society Gathering is an acoustic music “open stage” and jam session to share songs and stories of musicians of the past. Years ago, this type of gathering was known as a “Hootenanny.”

Join local musicians to share the music of past generations through songs that share experiences and provide us with a connection to earlier times. Songs of such artists as Woody Guthrie, Stephen Foster, Peter, Paul and Mary, Janis Joplin, John Denver, the Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Cole Porter and Leadbelly were shared at previous gatherings.
