Professional bass fisherman Clifford Pirch has picked up a new sponsor in the form of a Payson ammunition-manufacturing firm that prides itself on using all American components.
High Precision Range (HPR), which manufactures its ammo at a high-tech plant located near the Payson Airport, agreed last week to sponsor Pirch as he completes the 2011 schedule that began Feb. 3, 2011 at Lake Okeechobee, Fla. and will wrap up Oct. 20 at the FLW Tour Open in Lake Guntersville, Ala.
Pirch says one of the reasons he’s elated to have HPR on board is because the firm is owned by and employs some of his family and several friends who he played sports with at Payson High School.
The firm uses the latest equipment, hand packaging and hand inspection to manufacture six calibers of centerfire pistol cartridges as well as .223 rifle ammo.
Only days having acquiring HPR as a sponsor, Pirch’s Ranger tournament boat was decked out with a new paint job and HPR graphics.
“A&M Graphics in Mesa wrapped the boat,” said Pirch, one of the few Arizona anglers able to maintain a career on the pro circuit.
During his career, Pirch has twice won the U.S. Open and has a FLW Western Series victory to his credit.
In winning the FLW fray at Clear Lake, Calif., Pirch weighed in a record-breaking five-bass catch that tipped the scales at 37 pounds, 8 ounces.
