Educational Change Needed At Payson Unified School District

I see where our local school superintendent has once again applied for a position in the Valley. If he leaves, could he please take the entire Payson Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board with him?

We used to have a district where academics and athletics were significantly above average with positive vibrations throughout the district. Now, PUSD seems to be known for acrimony, mistrust, and dictatorial policies toward its employees.

The Arizona Legislature deserves some of the blame for the demise of PUSD due to its miserly financial support of public education in our state. However, local control means ultimately that the responsibility for education in a community like ours rests with the superintendent and the governing board.

To say that new educational leadership is needed at PUSD is not unlike saying the Fiesta Bowl needs new personnel at the helm.

Wow! Now with the business superintendent leaving, the board will have its hands full. Might be a good time to quit. Just look at the example of the previous board member Mr. Meyer.
