El Rancho Restaurant owners John and Brenda Kirschbaumfor large business of the year.

More than 170 people attended the 5th Annual Business Awards May 19. The luncheon, catered by Gerardo’s Firewood Café and sponsored by KC’s Home Health Care, APS and the Rim Country Alliance, honored the top businesses and individuals in the Rim Country.

Winners included the Gracie Lee Haught Foundation in the nonprofit category, El Rancho Restaurant owners John and Brenda Kirschbaum for large business of the year and Scoops Ice Cream owners Chris and Maria Higgins for small business of the year.

In the individual categories, the Pat Willis Award for Service Excellence was given to George Randall, the Jim Young Award for Business Person of the Year to Diane Enos and the 2011 Community Service Award to John Wilson. The Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Northern Gila County Economic Development Corporation and the Town of Payson, Tourism and Economic Vitality organized the event and expressed gratitude to all of the event’s sponsors.
