Payson Art League
Tom Herbert will be Payson Art League’s guest speaker at its Tuesday, Nov. 15 meeting. He is a popular speaker, juror and instructor in the art community. His work and articles have appeared in numerous publications. He is currently a member of the Arizona Watercolor Association, Arizona Artist Guild, Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona and Arizona Art Alliance.
The meeting is at Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn, Payson. The public is invited for the Show and Share from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; a short business meeting at 7 p.m.; and the presentation, which will take place afterward.
Rim Country Readers
The Rim Country Readers meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Payson Public Library to review the books “The Giver,” by Lois Lowery and “Genesis,” by Bernard Beckett.
The public is welcome to attend and hear about the books and learn about the group.
The Mogollon Chapter 1235 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees will hold its monthly no-host luncheon and meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260.

New Hope Grief Support Group

The Payson United Methodist Church will be holding its next Mothers’ Club meeting from 5:30 pm. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 414 Easy St.
The goal of this Moms’ Club is to help mothers meet other moms, find support as they raise their children and provide interesting programs. A free evening meal is served and sitters and children’s activities are provided while the moms meet.

Democratic Club of Northern Gila County
The Democratic Club of Northern Gila County will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Payson Public Library meeting room, 328 N. McLane Road.
The guest speaker will be Roberto Sanchez, chairman of the Gila County Redistricting Committee. He will give a final report of the committee’s efforts and the maps so far proposed for use.
There will be reports from officers and the leaders of the Rim Country Democratic Women’s Club and Gila County Democrats.
A request by Amnesty International for a letter writing campaign on Dec. 10 will be discussed and a preliminary report from the budget committee will be heard.
Membership annual dues are only $5 and can be paid at this meeting. Membership is required to vote on club business.
Plans for the Christmas party, set for Tuesday, Dec. 20, will also be discussed. The party will be held instead of the regular meeting.
