Dr. Terrance Rousseau has joined the Payson Care Center team as its full-time, onsite physician.

Payson Care Center is proud to announce that Dr. Terrance Rousseau has joined its team as the full-time, onsite physician. Dr. Rousseau’s role will be to assure the quality of care patients receive and aid in communicating with the patient’s primary care physician.

Dr. Rousseau and Payson Care Center medical director Dr. Abawi will share in the responsibility of attending to the many patients who come to the care center that are unattached to a physician.

Life Care Centers of America, the parent company of Payson Care Center, recently initiated the Onsite Physician Program. Life Care has already implemented the program at the many skilled nursing facilities it owns throughout the country. The Onsite Physician Program was established to meet the demands in the changes that the health care industry is currently experiencing. The addition of an onsite physician has proven to reduce the number of patients that return to the hospital after being discharged to a skilled nursing facility. It is believed the Onsite Physician Program will be a benefit to everyone, patient, hospital and Payson Care Center.

Shopping for a skilled nursing facility is probably not at the top of anyone’s list this or any holiday season. But let’s face it; winter’s icy streets and walkways are a haven for slips, falls and trips to the hospital emergency room. Winter months are the “high season” for hip, knee and shoulder surgeries that subsequently land you in a skilled nursing facility for short-term physical rehabilitation.

Everyone wants a fast recovery and desires to be back to their daily activities. To assure that you receive the best results in care and physical rehabilitation here are some important things to consider:

• Does the facility offer adequate nursing coverage?

• Does the facility have an onsite doctor?

• Is the facility accredited with the Joint Commission (The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations)?

• Does the facility offer a daily wound therapy care program?

At Payson Care Center, the answer is “yes” to all of the above. The center offers 24/7 nurse coverage and has just announced the addition of Dr. Terrance Rousseau as its onsite doctor. The Payson Regional Medical Center is accredited with the Joint Commission, shouldn’t your skilled nursing facility be as well?

Payson Care Center has received the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission. This is a voluntary program requiring additional surveying to assure the safety of and quality of care for patients and residents. Payson Care Center also staffs a licensed wound therapy nurse and maintains a daily wound therapy care program. The administration and staff know how important it is for a patient to get back home, by choosing Payson Care Center, that goal will be achieved.

Maybe this holiday season you are considering moving a loved one closer to you so that you can be a part of their care.

The above considerations also apply to the Payson Care Center’s long-term care residents.

Be certain the facility chosen is staffing the right mix of health care professionals to assure your loved one is receiving the best possible care. You also want to be assured of a clean and safe environment and that health care programs and physical therapy are available as well as activities to keep your loved one active.

But, seeing is believing, so stop by any time, no appointment is necessary, and ask for a tour of Payson Care Center, located at 107 E. Lone Pine Dr., Payson, just west of PRMC, or call (928) 474-6896.
