It’s October and that means the holiday shopping season is rolling out. All around Payson this week, residents and visitors will find plenty of shopping opportunities with a variety of organizational sales where unique holiday gifts are just waiting to be discovered.
$6 jewelry sale
A $6 jewelry sale is planned at the Payson Regional Medical Center West Lobby (Labor & Delivery entrance) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. Proceeds will benefit the Mogollon Health Alliance programs and scholarships.

Ponderosa Chapter #65, Order of the Eastern Star Annual Craft Fair, will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9 at 200 E. Rancho Road. The event features crafters from all over the state, a bake sale and prizes, plus, on Saturday, food prepared by the Masonic Lodge brothers.
Zane Grey Days Arts & Crafts Bazaar
The 14th Zane Grey Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Bazaar is set to open free to the public at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 for a two-day event on the Gila County Courthouse grounds at Frontier and Beeline Highway, across from the Payson post office.
Artisans and crafters from Payson and elsewhere will sell their fine handcrafted works of art and other products.
A variety of native, ethnic and American foods will also be available.

Lioness Bake Sale and more
The Payson Lioness Club is holding a by donation Bake Sale fund-raiser in front of Walmart from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 8. Also available will be jewelry and 2012 calendars. All proceeds go back to the public, benefiting Payson area charities.

Craft Show benefit
A craft show to benefit Greg Day of Macky’s will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9 at Sawmill Crossing Shopping Center.
The show will feature handcrafted items perfect for gifts and home. Proceeds from the booths and raffle ticket sales will be donated to help with medical costs for Greg Day.
The grand prize is a matinee for two at Sawmill Theatres, dinner for two at Cardo’s, dessert for two at Scoops, plus there are more than 20 other raffle items. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Flea Market & Boutique
The Rim Country Republican Club will have a Flea Market and Boutique from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 at Rumsey Park Ramada 5, 400 N. McLane, west of the Payson Public Library.
There will be craft booths and flea market offerings; sandwiches and hot dogs from MoJoe’s, ice cream and drinks from Scoops.
Special guest, Sheriff of the Year Paul Babeu, Pinal County Sheriff, will discuss border issues from noon to 1:30. There will be other elected officials present as well.
4-H taking orders for cookbook
Members of the Northern Gila County 4-H Club have collected their best recipes, along with those from family and friends and compiled them into an attractive keepsake cookbook.

The cookbook contains 200 well-loved recipes including appetizers, main dishes, desserts and many others. Recipes include the contributor’s name, enabling you to find the recipes of family and friends.
All proceeds will go to the Northern Gila County 4-H program for educational and project materials and experiential learning opportunities.
