Payson Elks

Elks members and guests are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; Friday dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday dinner from noon to 5 p.m.

Basic refreshments are offered for sale during Karaoke Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12 and at the Elks Jam Session, scheduled at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15. Elks members and guests are also welcome at these events.

Payson Masonic Lodge

Payson Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM meets every second Tuesday of the month. Dinner for members, their families and guests is at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. All members of the fraternity are invited to attend the meetings.

Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Bereaved parents support group

The Compassionate Friends offers hope, reassurance and a safe place to talk about our children with others who understand the pain of losing a child. Anyone who has lost a child (or grandchild) at any time, at any age is welcome to attend.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 102 W. Roundup, Suite D.

Sheriff’s Posse meets

The Gila County Sheriff’s Posse is looking for new members.

The Posse was founded back in 1967 as a volunteer group to serve the Sheriff and the people of Gila County. The Posse is called on for many emergencies such as forest fires, floods and snow.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse building, located just north of Main Street on McLane Road. The public is invited.

Pro Rodeo Committee

Payson Pro Rodeo Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month in the Swiss Village Best Western’s conference building at 7:30 p.m. New members welcome.

Rimstones to meet 

Payson Rimstones Rock Club will meet at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12 for the board meeting and 3:30 pm. for the regular meeting.

The guest speaker will be Greg McKelvey, a consulting engineering geologist with projects worldwide.

Wreath orders wanted

New Hope Equine Rescue’s Holiday Gift program is in progress. Decorate your home this holiday season with a beautiful Christmas wreath, or give one as a gift to your family, friends or employees.

The deadline for ordering is Nov. 11. Free delivery, direct from Minnesota, will be Dec. 5 through Dec. 9. Each decorated wreath, made with fresh evergreen boughs from Minnesota, comes with a hanger and for each purchase, a tree will be planted.

Weight Watchers meets at 5 p.m. every Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Road (next to the fire station).

Celebrate Unity of Payson is now an official church affiliated with Unity Worldwide Ministries. As a structure continues to be built for Sunday Unity Services, which are planned to commence this fall, those interested are invited to attend these continuing events:

Reaching Out Breast Cancer Support Group

Tex Ann Kraft, of Tina’s Treasurers, will be our guest speaker at this month’s Reaching Out Breast Cancer Support Group meeting. 

Tina’s Treasurers is located in the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center, which is affiliated with the Scottsdale Healthcare System. Kraft will be bringing samples of their products and loads of information to help with choices.

All breast cancer survivors are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13 at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E. Highway 260 (just past Safeway), Payson.

Payson Tea Party

Chapter DF of the P.E.O. Sister-hood will meet at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14 at the Church of the Nazarene.

Daughters of the American Revolution

The October meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14 in the Payson Public Library conference room. The speaker will be Betty Merritt, who will be speaking on the topic of Veterans Assistance.

Sons of the American Revolution

The Rim Country Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 at Tiny’s Restaurant.

If you are interested in tracing your ancestry back to the Revolutionary War, the organization has members who assist in this endeavor. Attend the meeting to learn more.
