Food Bank Needs Immediate Help

Editor:

St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank is in need of your immediate help! Our food shelves are at a drastic low, while the number of families in need continues to grow daily. Even though our recent Friends of the Poor Walk was a huge success, much of the monies from that event are also used to provide financial assistance to our clients for utilities, medical, dental and other needs, which have also increased.

In the past, in addition to local donors, food suppliers in Phoenix have made significant contributions to our food bank. With the sagging economy, these suppliers have made major cuts in their contributions in recent months, and local food donations have also dropped.

Currently, we are needing to reduce the amount of food provided per family to a scant three-day supply instead of the usual 10-day supply. Won’t you help us through this crisis?

If you are able to donate any canned goods, non-perishables or a cash donation for purchase of food, please bring them to the Food Bank, which is located at 511 S. St. Phillip Street in Payson.

The Food Bank is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Checks can be delivered to the Food Bank or mailed to St. Vincent de Paul Society, P.O. Box 1317, Payson, AZ 85547.

For further information, call (928) 474-9104 during the above hours of operation. We thank you once again for your continuing support as we all work together to meet the needs of those less fortunate members of our community.

Penny Dorgan, member,

St. Vincent de Paul Society
