Occupational Therapist To Speak On Lymphedema


Denise Miller, a Payson Care Center occupational therapist, will discuss lymphedema and answer questions on this condition at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17 at Mountain Bible Church, 302 E. Rancho Rd.

Lymphedema is a serious condition involving the lymphatic, circulatory and immune systems.

Left untreated, it can result in the swelling of the limb, skin changes (hardening infection known as cellulitis) and weeping fluid through the skin’s surface. Causes of lymphedema include cancer, infection or trauma.

Treatment includes manual lymph drainage, exercise, compression wraps and compression garments.
