Elks open mic night

The Elks welcome members and guests to bring their instruments and showcase their talents in an open mic format hosted by Anne James, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19. Basic refreshments are available to purchase and there is no charge for admission.

Edgar Cruz performs Oct. 25

Guitar virtuoso and master showman Edgar Cruz will present his unique blend of classical, Latin, pop, jazz and guitar masterpieces at the Payson High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Single tickets are $35 (if seating is available). Children and youth, grade 12 and under, will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Fudge, salsa sale for MHA

A large selection of The Salsa King’s award-winning salsa and America’s best fudge will be available on Thursday, Oct. 20 at the Payson Regional Medical Center lobby. Shopping is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fudge flavors include chocolate, walnut, maple, peanut butter, with pecan caramel clusters, almond bark, cinnamon nuts, sweet roasted nuts and lots more. Salsa flavors include garlic passion, just peachy pineapple and chipotle black bean and corn, to name just a few. Personalized coffee mugs (made in the USA) can be made with your photos on the spot. Also available will be 6-piece bed sets for only $22 (California king, king and queen sizes). Proceeds will benefit the many programs and scholarships available to the community through the Mogollon Health Alliance. For more information, call (928) 472-2588.

Library plans costume parades

The Payson Public Library will have two Trick or Treat Costume Parades Monday, Oct. 31.

The Preschool Costume Parade is at 10 a.m. and the After School Costume Parade is at 4 p.m.

Princesses, cowboys, superheroes, pirates, clowns and more are all invited to the Payson Public Library for the Trick or Treat Costume Parade, which will travel throughout the Library!

The parades are open to kids and teens of all ages, however, participants can only attend one event, not both. Sign up in the Children’s Room or call Katie at (928) 474-9260.

Community Health and Care Fair is nov. 5

The 13th annual Community Health and Care Fair is from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 5 in the old gym at Payson High School.

This year’s event will host many free screenings for adults and children, as well as flu shots and blood tests for reduced fees.

About 40 different health care providers will offer services or information at the event.
