Fall Festivals, Halloween Parties, Harvest Festivals — the Rim Country is full of them this weekend, starting Friday in Pine and at the Tonto Apache Gym, continuing on Saturday and more on Monday, Oct. 31. So, pick your pleasure and enjoy this festive time of year.

Oct. 25 Tuesday

Edgar Cruz performs Oct. 25

Guitar virtuoso and master showman Edgar Cruz will present his unique blend of classical, Latin, pop, jazz and guitar masterpieces at the Payson High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Single tickets are $35 (if seating is available). Children and youth, grade 12 and under, will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Thrift store sale

The Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store will have selected ladies’ pants on sale at three pairs for $1 Wednesday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 29. Men’s suits will be $2 each and sport jackets will be $1 each.

The Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store is located at 3916 N. Hwy. 87 in downtown Pine and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

Senior Circle programs

The Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle will host a program at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26 on 2012 Medicare Annual Enrollment – Tips to Save Money by longtime health insurance broker, Tom Russell.

Free flu shot for members will be given from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 27. Call (928) 472-9290 for more information.

Payson Jazz Trio

The Payson Jazz Trio performs this week at the Ayothaya Thai Café, 404 E Hwy. 260, Payson (north side across from Safeway).

Fall outdoor photo class registration deadline

Learn simple techniques to capture the reality of what you are seeing with your camera. Photographers will learn effective composition techniques, and how to find ideal locations for outdoor photography. Participants must be familiar with their camera and be able to hike a half-mile. The cost is $15 per person and is open to those 16 and up. The deadline to register, with payment is Oct. 28.

The class will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5 in Pine. Participants will meet in the parking lot of the Ponderosa Market on the left hand corner of Highway 87 and Hardscrabble Road. The Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is presenting the class. Call (928) 474-5251, ext. 7 for more information.

Deadline to register for free Home School art classes

The Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library in Pine will again be holding free art classes, taught by Robyn Bossert, for home school children beginning Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the library activity room.

Classes will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 30. Registration is required and space is limited to the first 15 students. The deadline for registration is Friday, Oct. 28. Call the library at (928) 476-3678 or stop by to sign up.

Pine Strawberry School Fall Festival helps students

The Pine Strawberry School will have its annual Fall Festival from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28 in the school gymnasium.  

Activities for the evening include a variety of booths, a cakewalk, silent auction, haunted maze, and more.  A costume contest will take place at 7 p.m.  Dinner is also available for $4. 

The proceeds will help benefit the 8th grade class trip and promotion ceremony.

Halloween Party at Tonto Apache Gym

There will be a free Ghostly Fun Party, including a haunted maze and Thriller dance performance from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28 at the Tonto Apache Gym. There will be candy and food for everyone, thanks to sponsorship by the Tonto Apache Tribe.
