Unity of Payson and Daily Word Readers

Celebrate Unity of Payson is now an official church affiliated with Unity Worldwide Ministries. As a structure continues to be built for Sunday Unity Services, which are planned to commence this fall, those interested are invited to attend these continuing events:

Payson Fly Casters

The Payson Fly Casters Club will meet Saturday, Oct. 28 at Tiny’s Restaurant. Members will have breakfast at 8 a.m., with the meeting following at 9 a.m.

Anyone interested in fly fishing is welcome to attend.

Tai Chi and Qigong

Tai Chi and Qigong classes are offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road.

The program is especially designed for seniors 50 or older, but is beneficial for all ages. There is no charge, but donations are accepted.

Payson Elks

Elks members and guests are welcome at the Halloween Party, which starts at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29 with cocktails and features the music of Goin’ 4 Broke. Tickets are $10 per person.

The Payson Elks meet at 7 p.m., the first and third Thursday of each month at the Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline Highway.

Elks members and guests are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; Friday dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday dinner from noon to 5 p.m.

Basic refreshments are offered for sale during the new hosted Open Mic Night, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2; Karaoke Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 and the Jam Session, 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5 . Reformation Celebration

The Rock of Ages Lutheran Church Reformation Celebration will be held Sunday, Oct. 30.

The Reformation service begins at 4 p.m. with the Oktoberfest Bratwurst Dinner at 5 p.m. There will be door prizes and entertainment by the Senior Center Band.

Pine Library Friends meeting rescheduled

The Pine Library Friends have rescheduled the October meeting to 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31 in the Library Activity Room, located right behind the Cultural Hall at the Pine Community Center. 

There will be no guest speaker as this will be an organizational meeting. The group’s new officers will set up its committees and chairmanships.

Anyone who would like to see if there is a way that they can help, please be sure to attend.

Republican Club meets

The Rim Country Republican Club will meet at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260.

Bob Burns, candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission and former president of the Arizona State Senate, will be the guest speaker.

Members and guests may gather at 11 a.m. to order lunch and socialize. The business meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m., and Burns will speak at noon.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. (After turning in driveway, turn right at first driveway. OA meets in the Community Room in the center of the facility’s apartment complex.)

Pain management support group

Making Life Better, a pain management support group, meets from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Monday, excluding holidays, at the lobby of the Grant Clinic, 903 E. Highway 260, Payson. All are welcome to attend the free program. Paulette Wright facilitates the group.

This club has no dues or elections.

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at 9 a.m. at Tiny’s Restaurant every week, to visit and plan future activities.

Friendship Bible Class

Friendship Bible Class, formerly Friendship Coffee, a non-denominational Bible study for women, meets at 1 p.m. every Tuesday at Uptown Espresso. All women in the community are invited.

Card players wanted

The Saving Graces of Payson — a Canasta card-playing group — is looking for a few ladies who enjoy fun, laughter and friendship.

This Red Hat group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the beautiful Chaparral Pines dining room. Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed. You do not need to know how to play, the members will be happy to teach the game.

Lost Loves

Lost Loves, a new support group for adults who have lost a loved one through suicide, meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Adults suffering from such a loss are welcome to attend the group sessions which are free of charge.

The group will be facilitated by a professional counselor and a survivor of suicide loss. A nonprofit organization, Lost Loves is currently scheduled to meet at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson.

High Country Garden Club

The Thursday, Nov. 3 meeting of High Country Garden Club will feature a hands-on program where members and guests will learn to create a plantable holiday gift tag with wildflower seeds. You will need to bring a cookie cutter. Join in the fun and take home a worthwhile and useful holiday creation.

Zane Grey Kiwanis
