Payson Water Bills Found, Delivered By Post Office

A batch of Payson water bills clogged up in the mail system has finally cleared.

It seems 8,000 bills from the Payson Water Department went missing for several days, but finally showed up in customers’ mailboxes in time to avoid any late penalties.

According to water department employees, on Aug. 31, they dropped off the usual monthly allotment of water bills at the Payson post office for delivery.

Shortly thereafter, the bills went missing and it is still not clear what happened.

Where customers should have received statements by Sept. 1 or 2, not one was found in a mailbox across town.

When the water department called about the wayward bills, they were told by the post office that the bills “were out.”

But the bills were still not in mailboxes.

Finally, on Tuesday, the bills began to turn up. A post office supervisor said they were sent to Phoenix for processing, like all mail from Payson, and were somehow misrouted.

The statements were found this weekend and delivered.

Thanks for the vote of confidence kellywatts. You obviously have no idea what goes on behind the scenes in a post office. Postal employees are some of the hardest working people I know. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you can't say something nice, you shouldn't say anything at all? HMMM?
