Crane Fire Might Be Work Of Arsonist

Officials believe a fire at Parker Excavating Saturday night could be the work of an arsonist.

Just after 11 p.m., Payson police received a call that the cab of a yellow crane rig was on fire in the parking lot of the business at 1400 N. Beeline Hwy., said Payson Fire Chief Marty deMasi.

Firefighters quickly snuffed the blaze, containing it to the cab.

Afterward, investigators, with the help of a K-9 from the Globe Fire Department, found accelerants in the cab, said Police Chief Don Engler.

Officers are looking for suspects and anyone with information is asked to call the PPD at (928) HOT-TIPS or 474-5242.
