Annual Pioneer Dinner And Dance

The always-popular annual Gila County Pioneers Dinner and Dance is from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Tonto Apache Gym.

Admission is only $10 per person for an old-fashioned barbecue dinner with all the trimmings, a dance and auction.

Don and Ron Gibson will provide the music for the dance and everyone can participate in the raffle. The raffle tickets are $5 each and provide a chance at winning a butchered hog or whole beef.

The purpose of the event, which will be celebrating its 6th anniversary this year, is to honor the pioneers who helped establish the Rim Country and help younger generations understand the need to remember our heritage so it will live on.

Pioneer families are being asked to make their favorite pie, cake or pastry for a “Pastry Auction” to be held after the dinner.

Proceeds will be used for a scholarship program.

Get tickets at the Payson Roundup, Payson Library, SemStream or the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce.
