The Payson High School Drama Department presents “Addict” this week.

The Payson High School drama department opens its 2011-2012 season with a production of “Addict” by Jerome McDonough.

Senior Gabe Hesson plays the rock star, Ken Starr, who gives us a surprise ending. Junior Emily Price plays Marcy who opens the play in a school hallway scene with lockers that hide alcohol and drugs. Junior Savannah Wiseman is the stage manager as well as the lead in one of the short scenes; seniors Brooke Collins and Josh Leonard are in charge of the lighting, senior Johnathon Rockwell heads up the sound and senior Andrew Kofile is in charge of the multi-media presentation.

This play offers a serious and an important lesson: dangerous drugs kill, oftentimes, the first time they are used.

The play will be presented at the PHS Auditorium at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 24 and at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens and will be available at the door.
