Chinese Acrobats Open 2011-2012 Tcca Season


Expect acrobatic displays, formidable feats of daring and balance, explosive energy, brilliant costumes and a touch of Chinese comedy when the Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats open the 2011-2012 season of the Tonto Community Concert Association.

For more than a quarter of a century, The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats have been a high-energy attraction for hundreds of universities and performing arts centers. This 12- to 15-member troupe flawlessly interpret the precision and grace of an art form honed by centuries of discipline and training.

The first performance in the TCCA’s 2011-12 season features the Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27.

This group dazzles its audiences with not only its amazing talents, but its costumes and more. The Shangri-La Chinese Acrobats are a balanced act — a hit with all ages.

The performance is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Payson High School auditorium.

Season tickets are $90 per person, and if available, individual tickets will be sold at the door, 30 minutes in advance of the show, for $35 each.

Performances continue through April for the 2011-2012 season.

Back by popular demand, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, Edgar Cruz captivates his audience by the precision, speed and complexity of guitar mastery as he offers an exceptional selection of cool jazz from his vast repertoire.

Enjoy a tribute to John Denver at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 when Jim Curry presents “Take Me Home — John Denver.”

A multi-media presentation, “Chaplin — A Life in Concert” is planned for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29.

The sounds of Nashville will fill the Rim Country at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12 with the performance of Billy Dean.

The TCCA is bringing a different style of entertainment to the Rim Country with its presentation of The Water Coolers at 7 p.m., Friday, March 16.

The final program of the 2011-2012 TCCA season will be by The American Tenors at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 19.
