Unity of Payson and Daily Word Readers

Celebrate Unity of Payson, which is now an official church affiliated with Unity Worldwide Ministries. As a structure continues to be built for Sunday Unity Services, which are planned to commence this fall, those interested are invited to attend these continuing events:

Tai Chi and Qigong

Tai Chi and Qigong classes are offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road.

The program is especially designed for seniors 50 or older, but is beneficial for all ages. There is no charge, but donations are accepted.

Payson Area Singles

The Payson Area Singles group has no dues or elections.

Members will be attending the Gila County Pioneers Dinner and Dance, Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets every week at 9 a.m. at Tiny’s Restaurant to visit and plan future activities. All singles are welcome.

Rim Country Celts

The Rim Country Celts will meet at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25 at Tiny’s Restaurant to finalize the plans for the Oct. 1 Ceilidh. Everyone who is interested in the Celtic heritage and a “party” is invited to attend.

Any Celtic musicians, singers and dancers are invited come on stage at the Ceilidh, which will be held at the Lone Pine Hotel, 610 W. Main St., Payson. Call Anne James at (928) 951-4420 to register; there is no fee.

Pine Library Friends

The Pine Library Friends will hold its next meeting at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 26 in the Library Activity Room located just behind the Cultural Hall in Pine. 

The guest speaker will be Maureen Garlausky. She was previously located at the Pine Country Antiques and Vintage/Yarn Shop but has now moved her store to Payson.  Come see what she has to say.

The community is always invited to attend and check out PLF and see if it isn’t something of interest. 

Barton to speak to Rim Republicans

The Rim Country Republican Club will meet at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 26 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant.

The speaker will be Arizona State Representative Brenda Barton. Her talk will include information on the new EPA restrictions on Arizona power plants.

Members and guests will gather at 11 a.m. to order lunch and socialize. The business meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. and at noon, Barton will speak. Everyone is welcome to attend. Call Nancy Cox at (928) 472-1172 for more information.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. (After turning in driveway, turn right at first driveway. OA meets in the Community Room in the center of the facility’s apartment complex.)

Payson Lions Club will host Mayor Evans

The Payson Lions Club will be hosting Mayor Kenny Evans at its next meeting, 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26 at the American Legion Hall., E. Highway 260, Payson. Mayor Evans will be addressing the status of Arizona State University coming to Payson.

The Lions Club meetings are open to the public and all interested are invited to attend.

Pain management support group

Making Life Better, a pain management support group, meets from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Monday, excluding holidays, at the lobby of the Grant Clinic, 903 E. Highway 260, Payson. All are welcome to attend the free program.

A Course in Miracles

Study Groups for A Course in Miracles meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays and from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays.

The JULIETs — Just Us Ladies Into Eating Together — meet for lunch and conversation at 11:30 a.m., the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Crosswinds Restaurant at the Payson Airport. This month, the date is Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Friendship Bible Class

Friendship Bible Class, formerly Friendship Coffee, a non-denominational Bible study for women, meets at 1 p.m. every Tuesday at Uptown Espresso. All women in the community are invited.
