The Gila County Sheriff’s Office has called off a search for a Round Valley man missing since Sunday.
Sgt. Terry Hudgens is releasing few details on the man, but confirmed Thursday afternoon he had called off searchers after they found no new clues to the man’s whereabouts. More than 30 rescuers, including Tonto Rim Search and Rescue, the mounted posse, sheriff’s deputies and a helicopter crew looked for the man for four days.
“We have not had any luck,” Hudgens said. “There are no clues, nothing to go on.”
The man reportedly took off on foot from his home in Round Valley. Hudgens would not identify the man.
Searchers narrowed down a search area based on the man’s cell phone signal.
Even though searchers checked the area and rechecked it, they found nothing, Hudgens said.
Rough, rugged terrain added to the difficulty.
Although the search is officially off, Hudgens said searchers would likely go out and look on their own.
