Village Wools celebrated its grand opening in Payson in July after moving from Pine.
Owner Maureen Garlausky said the move has been a great success with customers flocking to the new, larger shop, previously called the Pine Yarn Shop.
The store, at 418 S. Beeline Highway, offers yarn, knitting and crocheting supplies and classes.
For Garlausky, who spent her career working in New York’s fashion industry, the Rim Country has offered a welcome change.
Garlausky’s work with Ralph Lauren’s fabric department and Chanel’s fashion, fragrance and beauty divisions gave her a wealth of knowledge that added to her lifetime love of fabrics.
“I have always been interested in textiles and I began sewing all my own clothes as a teenager,” she said. “Both my mother and grandmother were wonderful seamstresses. I think it is the construction process of sewing, knitting and woolworking that is so appealing to me.”
Beyond more space, the shop has expanded its class offerings.
Spinning classes are available through November, and weaving classes will start Sept. 30.
Other classes range from beginning knitting, crocheting, knit a sweater, linen stitch scarf, wet felting, crocheted socks and cable stitch pillows.
Open knitting happens every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
