Payson High School Musical Theater Club presents “All Shook Up,” a show inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, in performances at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12 and Saturday, April 14, and at 4 p.m. Friday, April 13 at PHS Auditorium. Books Are Fun Fair set

Select from hundreds of new books and gifts at the Books Are Fun Fair at Payson Regional Medical Center until 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 in the west lobby (Labor & Delivery) at PRMC.

The items available for purchase: photo albums, stationery, music and much more.

Sales items at the Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store April 11 through April 14 will be twin sheets, 50 percent off the marked prices; T-shirts, three for $1; cassette tapes, five for 10 cents.

The store is located at 3916 N. Highway 87 in downtown Pine — at the Community Center — and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Cenpatico community forum

Cenpatico invites residents of Payson and the surrounding communities to attend a community forum from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St., Payson.

Learn about the services available through Cenpatico. Share concerns and ask Terry Stevens, the chief executive officer, questions and share ideas about how to improve services.

Last day to register for Adult Spring ASA Co-ed Softball

Wednesday, April 11 is the last day to register a team for the Adult Spring ASA Co-ed Softball program offered through the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.

Participants must be at least 16 and the cost is $300 per team, or $275 with proof of ASA registration. Team rosters are limited to 14 people. And teams must be registered with ASA prior to start of play.

Games will be played weekday evenings at Rumsey 2 from April 16 through June 5 and there will be an end-of-season, double-elimination championship tournament with awards.

‘All Shook Up’ at PHS

Payson High School Musical Theater Club presents “All Shook Up,” a show inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley and based on the book by Joe Dipietro.

The show will be at the PHS Auditorium at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 12 and Saturday, April 14, and at 4 p.m., Friday, April 13.

Tickets purchased in advance are $6 for adults ($8 at the door), $4 for students ($6 at the door), and $5 for seniors ($7 at the door). Tickets may be purchased in advance at the 260 Cafe, Payson Public Library and the Oasis Christian Book Store.

Community Breakfast

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, is hosting a community breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Friday, April 13. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, coffee and juice.

Rim Country residents and visitors are invited to join the congregation for food and fellowship. A free will offering will be accepted.

The church hosts a breakfast on the second Friday of every month from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Shred-a-Thon Friday

The first Shred-a-Thon for 2012 will be held at the Walmart parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, April, 13. Banker’s boxes of paper items will be shredded for $6 per box, with $2 going to the Payson Senior Center.  All items will be shredded on the site. The Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event.

Ribbon cuttings

SuddenLink is moving from the Swiss Village to a new, more spacious office at 252 E. Highway 260, next to the Pizza Factory.

It will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 13.

Payson’s Open Door (an independent assisted living location) at 1008 S. Butte Crest Circle (south of the hospital, off of Phoenix St.) will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17.

Looking ahead

FFA Family Rodeo

The 2nd Annual FFA Family Rodeo takes place Saturday, April 14 at the Payson Event Center. Events for all age groups include family roping, musical hay bales, barrel racing, pole bending and many more. Prizes will be awarded to a cowboy and cowgirl in each age group. Children under 8 do not have to have a horse to participate.

Admission is free to spectators. Come early, stay late and enjoy a barbecue lunch and exciting competition in between. Contact Payson High School Agriculture Education teacher Jadee Rohner at (928) 474-2233 for more details and information.

PATS hike

Hike the Peach Loop trail starting at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 14.

This is a challenging hike that includes a very steep, rocky hill, so participants should come prepared for rough hiking.

Park at the Payson Golf Course and walk south across the street to the trailhead.

Rim Country Celtic Festival

The 2nd Annual Rim Country Celtic Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15 at the Payson Elks Lodge dirt parking lot, 1206 N. Beeline Highway.

This is an outdoor festival and is open to the public. 

Admission is $10 per day or $15 for both days for adults; for children 6 to 16 it is $5 per day or $8/2 days; those under 6 will be admitted free. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with a formal opening ceremony at noon; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the Kirking of the Tartan around 11 a.m.

Many Celtic clans will be represented and there will be vendors with Celtic wares. There will be continuous Celtic music each day and Alice Natale, teller of Celtic tales, will also participate. There will be American and Celtic food available.

The Northern Gila County Genealogical Society will have a tent to provide help in tracing family heritage and the Daughters of Scotia will have Tea Garden Tent.

Auction at Mount Cross

Mount Cross Lutheran Church is holding a auction to raise funds for a new building and its after-school program. The event will be Saturday, April 14.

Among the auction items: a time share, antiques, golf passes, quilts, jewelry, art, sports items and much more. The auction will take place at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E. Highway 260 in the log building. Items can be previewed at 5 p.m., with the bidding starting at 5:45 p.m. There will also be food and entertainment.

British Soccer Camp sign-up

To make sure your child or teen gets a T-shirt, register them for the summer’s British Soccer Camp by April 15.

Youngsters between the ages of 3 and 18 can learn from soccer pros from the United Kingdom from June 4 through June 8 on the Rumsey Park south soccer field.

Fees range from $84 to $180 and late fees will be charged for registration after May 20. Register online at www.challenge sports.com.
