A 45-mile stretch of State Route 260 is closed in both directions due to a fuel tanker crash approximately 10 miles west of Heber (mileposts 257-302) at 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Motorists should expect the closure to last for several hours. There is no anticipated time for the highway to reopen.
ADOT highway crews and law enforcement officers are providing on-scene assistance.
As an alternate route, ADOT suggests motorists use U.S. 60 to travel between Phoenix and Show Low.
