The Payson American Legion Riders are beginning preparations for our Seventh Annual Charity Fun Run to benefit Payson Supply Line. Over the past six years, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for this worthwhile cause, with last year’s event contributing more than $9,000. Our goal for 2012 is $10,000.
While thousands of our servicemen and women are returning from Iraq, many remain in harm’s way and in challenging conditions, like Afghanistan. Payson Supply Line’s mission continues to be an important one, providing needed personal items unavailable in a combat zone — that gift from home that says we care. Please visit them at paysonsupplyline.com for more information.
Last year we expanded the scope of our annual event by including more merchants and social organizations in town. We directed Fun Run participants to more businesses and extended the hours of the event to allow for a more leisurely visit to our town. The result was increased sales to merchants and an additional $1,200 — or 60 more packages sent to our troops.
We are calling on local businesses and social organizations for contributions of products or services to assist us in our efforts. Monetary donations are gratefully accepted. Please make checks payable to Payson Supply Line or American Legion Riders Post 69.
This year’s Fun Run takes place on May 12 at American Legion Post 69, 709 E Highway 260, Payson, AZ 85541. Besides the Fun Run, activities will include T-shirt sales, food, raffles and music by Blue Frog.
Thank you for any support you may provide.
