Steve Coury Ford of Star Valley has always been a family business.

And for Heath Wacker, the dealership’s new general sales manager, returning to the showroom is like coming home.

Wacker worked for the Courys a number of years and even met his wife, who also worked at the dealership, while on the job. The couple is still together and Wacker is back at the dealership, working with old friends and a few new faces.

Along with Wacker’s recent arrival, Gary Chitwood joined the sales team just a few weeks ago.

Most people in Payson have either bought a vehicle from Chitwood or known someone who has. After working 22 years at Chapman Auto in Payson, Chitwood knows the car sales business, Wacker said.

After retiring from Chapman, Chitwood said he wanted a new challenge. Luckily, Steve Coury was in need of an assistant sales manager.

For Wacker and Chitwood, it is a natural partnership.

The men have coached football and baseball together for years. “We bring with us the same hardworking attitude we have on the field,” Wacker said.

Chitwood said he likes that the dealership of 20 years is still family owned and Steve Coury still comes by almost daily.

Wacker says he always loved working for the Courys so “I decided to come home” when “they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

Wacker now oversees a sales staff of six, who pride themselves on offering quality products and service.

The dealership specializes in new and pre-owned Ford vehicles and has upwards of 150 vehicles on the lot at any one time.

Wacker said his favorite new vehicle is the Ford F-150 EcoBoost V6, which offers 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
