Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Flycasters Club

The Payson Flycasters Club will meet Saturday, April 28 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260. Breakfast is at 8 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9 a.m. The speaker will be Daniel Downs from Sportsmen’s Warehouse. He will be discussing bugs used in flyfishing. All interested fishermen and women are invited to attend.

Unity of Payson

Unity of Payson will host the Rev. Konrad Kaserer at 10 a.m., Sunday, April 29 at services at the Central Arizona Board of Realtors office, 600 E. Highway 260, Ste. 14.

His talk will be on “Ancient Wisdom - New Applications” from the book, “Lessons in Truth.”

Faith Center West Family Church Payson

Faith Center West Family Church is at 616 S. Beeline Highway, Ste. 4, Payson, (in the rear upstairs). Come join the congregation for a time of lively praise and worship and a life-changing Word! Call Pastor Kathy Reiger at (480) 329-1150 for information or questions.

Senior Center news

Payson Care Center’s educational series at the Payson Senior Center continues with a program at 11 a.m., Monday, April 30 with Jean Ramsey, a social worker at PCC and former hospice bereavement coordinator. She will present a lecture about going through the grief process. The lecture offers many simple tools needed to cope with the loss of a loved one or someone close to you. Payson Senior Center’s lunch will follow the presentation. Call (928) 474-4876 to make luncheon reservations.

Zumba Gold and Tone and Stretch classes with Christy are available at the Senior Center beginning May 2. Zumba Gold is at 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and Tone and Stretch will be held at 10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost is $3 per class or $5 for both classes back-to-back.

The Payson Senior Center is at 514 W. Main St.

Rim Country Republican Club meets Monday

The Rim Country Republican Club will meet Monday, April 30 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson. The speakers will be Daisy Flores, Gila County Attorney and Dr. Linda O’ Dell, Gila County School Superintendent. Members and guests may gather at 11 a.m. to order lunch and socialize. Senior Circle notices 

Payson Regional Medical Center Senior Circle members are entitled to a substantial discount at the Tonto Apache Gym. April is open enrollment month for this quarter.  Gym dues are $52 and payable to Senior Circle during April only. Time is getting short to enroll. 

A diabetes support group meets at Senior Circle from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, April 30. 

The Senior Circle Lunch & Learn program Wednesday, May 9 will be about Lupus, an autoimmune disease that occurs when an individual’s own immune system attacks its healthy tissue or organs. An estimated 16,000 Americans will develop Lupus each year. Join Dr. Christopher LeSueur as he reveals how Lupus presents itself. Learn why autoimmune diseases occur and how to manage them.

Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

Westerners have been attracted to Buddhism in part because of its practical aspects. The basic teachings of Buddhist philosophy are simple and applicable in daily life. It is a guide to transforming human suffering into wisdom, inner peace and enlightenment through understanding the nature of self and reality, and through compassion. Buddhists believe that we are each responsible for our own morality by the choices that we make.

The Payson Buddhist Meditation and Study group meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday evenings at the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade St. Call (928) 595-1378 for additional information.

Relay for Life team meeting Monday

People who are putting teams together for the 2012 Relay for Life in Payson are encouraged to attend a team meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, April 30 at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson.

Payson Area Singles

The Payson Area Singles group has no dues.

Its Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities. On the schedule: Saturday, May 5, Cinco de Mayo picnic at Woods Canyon Lake with a carpool from the Stage parking lot (riders should bring gas money for the drivers) and bring Mexican food to share.
