Faeries are featured along with fancily attired stuffed bears and hand-sewn baby quilts at a new shop in Pine.
Faeries, Bears, and Baby Quilts (FBBQ) opened its doors for business last month under co-owners Sharon Chanley and BJ Mish, who also runs Pine Quilts.
The pair believes the combination of handcrafted faeries, fancily attired stuffed bears and hand-sewn baby quilts is the perfect combination.
The shop stocks fabric for faeries and baby quilts as well as faery patterns and the tools needed to start a faerie collection.
Chanley discovered she had a knack for doll-making just a year and a half ago when she inherited her mother’s craft room.
While she initially experimented with continuing her mother’s tradition of dressing bears for the seasons, she found it was not quite her speed.
Then, she found the art doll and blended her longtime love of fairies with the artistic expression.
The idea for a faery shop blossomed when Chanley discovered Mish’s quilt shop, at 3972 N. Highway 87, in Pine.
Mish opened the shop five years ago, quickly becoming the place to go for quilt supplies in P-S.
“She brings that same expertise of design and quality artisanship and materials to the baby quilts she sells in the FBBQ shop,” Chanley said.
The shop sells faeries ranging in size from 10 inches to 20 inches that are inspired by the fabrics, ribbons and embellishments Chanley finds. The cost of faeries and quilts ranges from $35 to $150 depending on size and complexity.
Chanley offers individualized instruction in faery construction.
The shop, attached to Pine Quilts, is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays when there is a festival or special event in Pine. Appointments are available. Contact Chanley for more information at (570) 412-3085.
