Police arrested a middle school student Monday morning for reportedly punching a teacher.

The incident happened during first period at the Rim Country Middle School, said Police Chief Don Engler.

About 9 a.m., Will Dunman, the school’s principal, called police after a student allegedly punched a teacher in the face, Engler said.

Officers arrested the child, whose age was not disclosed, for aggravated assault. He was later released to his parents.

Engler said officers had contact with the same child recently for similar behavior.
