Stubbs Deserves Support

I am a 25-year veteran of law enforcement with service in the Chandler Police Department, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Miami Police Department, Gila County Sheriff’s Office and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

I have known Darrell Stubbs these past 20 years — 13 as an employee with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, both as his co-worker and supervisor. The following is a firsthand account and recommendation of Darrell Stubbs for the position of sheriff in Gila County.

Darrell works hard to achieve the goals he sets for himself. It does not matter how daunting the task is or how inconsequential the outcome. Every task and person involved is important to him.

As a patrol supervisor I can say that Darrell Stubbs exemplified a great employee. Dependable, honest, forward-thinking, used initiative to complete assignments, task-oriented. He interpreted, applied and followed policies and procedures, and took enforcement action with diligence and compassion. Darrell truly understands the team approach to problem solving. Everyone has something to contribute and Darrell always managed to bring those pieces together.

His years of ground-level experience in every part of the county have afforded him an expanded overview of 1) the kinds of problems facing the citizens of Gila County; 2) the cultural and social differences within our county; 3) the past attempts of solving those problems; 4) the personal connections throughout the county needed to forge alliances and gain stakeholder willingness to achieve success.

Darrell’s extensive training, nationwide, gives him a knowledge bank of successful programs, policies and procedures to attach the criminal element, aid community-based help agencies, excel employee skills and create the lead law enforcement agency in the county — the Gila County Sheriff’s Office.

I urge your support and vote to elect Darrell Stubbs, sheriff of Gila County.

I have no dog in this fight. I know none of the candidates personaly. You state in your letter of support and recommendation this phrase> "the personal connections throughout the county needed to forge alliances and gain stakeholder willingness to achieve success." As a voter and citizen of Gila co. that concerns me. It infers more of the good ol' boy, with a wink and a nod type of selective law enforcement. Surely, Gila Co. does not need more of that in it's Law Enforcement community. Secondly, the fact that you worked for six different law enforcement agency's over your 25 year career raises other concerns.
