Police have apprehended Gabriel Jaramillo at Roosevelt Lake, ending a four-day manhunt, authorities said.
According to radio traffic, Jaramillo appeared on the north side of the lake just before 3:30 p.m. and asked some nearby boaters for water.
Jaramillo, 57, had been hiding out in the desert since Saturday night after reportedly engaging in a gun battle with three deputies.
Jaramillo is wanted in connection with a murder in Eagar.
On Saturday, Miami Police officers pulled Jaramillo over when he was spotted driving a stolen vehicle belonging to a man found dead Friday near Big Lake, in Apache County.
Jaramillo reportedly got out of the vehicle brandishing a rifle and sped off when officers approached, according to Globe media reports.
Jaramillo led officers on a chase to the north side of Roosevelt Lake, firing on officers. Officer shots reportedly disabled Jaramillo’s vehicle forcing him to flee into the forest.
Dozens of officers searched tirelessly for Jaramillo, but he evaded capture.
Jaramillo had only minor injuries.
