As of today, Friday, Dec. 14, we have met the first challenge grant of $10,000.
The total funds received in the food drive are past the $10,000 mark ($10,318).
We have 17 days to meet the second challenge of $5,000.
Remember, your contributions of cash (preferably checks) to the Payson Area Food Drive qualify for the State Credit for the Working Poor. Single filers can claim $200. Joint return filers can claim $400 as a credit against your state income taxes.
Not only that, these contributions also qualify as charitable contributions on your federal return.
