Flu Immunization Clinic For Children This Friday

The Gila County Division of Health Services is offering a flu immunization clinic for children only, ages 36 months to 18 years, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4 at the Health Department Payson branch, 107 W. Frontier St., Suite A.

If your child missed the school flu clinic in September, this is an excellent opportunity to have your child immunized. If you have any questions please call (928) 474-1210.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning of a long and severe flu season.

The first confirmed case of the flu in Arizona was on Oct. 30. Last year the first case was not until Dec. 14.

Most of the Arizona cases of flu are influenza B, which affects younger people more severely. Flu numbers typically rise during and after the holiday season, with its increased travel and social events.

There is no good science against the flu vaccine. The reward is far greater than the risk.
