Tai Chi and Qigong
Tai Chi and Qigong classes are offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road.
The program is especially designed for seniors 50 or older, but is beneficial for all ages. There is no charge, but donations are accepted.
American Legion Riders
The American Legion Riders February meeting is at Tiny’s Restaurant on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m., with a business meeting to follow at 10 a.m.
The agenda will include the discussion of our annual Fun Run to benefit Payson Supply Line scheduled for Saturday, May 12 at the Tonto Rim Post 69 in Payson.

Discover what Unity of Payson is all about. Beginning Sunday, Feb. 5, each Sunday service looks at one of the five Unity principles. There will be several great Unity ministers and teachers coming, so members will hear how Unity principles make a difference in daily life from diverse views.

Rim Country Optimist Club has and is going to make some changes in its meetings. The general meeting is now at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant meeting room at the Mazatzal Casino at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6.
The guest speaker will be Stan Garner, who has 45 years of experience in the restoration, maintenance and operation of steam and diesel locomotives as well as passenger and freight cars. Garner has worked as a train consultant, train coordinator and actor on more than 307 films, television and still shoots in all parts of the country. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has several screen credits.
The club’s business/board meeting is at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 20, also at the meeting room of the Cedar Ridge Restaurant at the casino.
Beginning in March, the Rim Country Optimist Club will meet at 5:30 p.m., the second Monday of every month at Cedar Ridge Restaurant. Often there will be a speaker and/or a general meeting will be held to prepare for an event that will benefit youth. The monthly board meeting will take place after the general meeting.
Put Feb. 18 on to do lists: this is the evening of the annual Lip Sync Concert at Payson High School. The night will include a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle. High school students will be competing for a total of $1,100 in prizes. Plus 50 attendees will be randomly picked to be audience judges to give a $100 prize. This event is sponsored through the cooperative effort of Kiwanis, Optimist and Rotary clubs and the High School Drama Department. Tickets are now being sold by club members at a discounted price prior to the event. As this event’s proceeds are for scholarships for continuing education, the clubs continue to accept auction and monetary donations.

For those unable to attend noon meetings, the Rim Country Republican Club is now offering evening and day meetings.
The next evening meeting will be Monday, Feb. 13 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260 in Payson. Members and guests may gather at 5:30 p.m. to order dinner and socialize. The meeting to hear the speaker begins at 6 p.m.
Shane Krauser, one of the best instructors of the U.S. Constitution in the United States, will be the guest speaker. His topic will be Constitutional Education.

Rim Area Gardeners
Rim Area Gardeners meet at 7 p.m., the second Monday of the month at the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway. At its Feb. 13 meeting, the group will host Everything’s Coming up Roses, by Home Depot. The program will include everything one needs to know about raising roses.

Beyond Limits Ministry to meet Feb. 14
Beyond Limits will meet this month on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mountain Bible Church Worship Center, 302 E. Rancho Road, Payson.

Meditation book group
This two-month focus on meditation will be based upon the book “True Meditation — Discover the Freedom of Pure Awareness” authored by present-day spiritual teacher, Adyashanti.
The class is open to all who would sincerely like to engage the process of meditation — whether beginner or experienced. The book, which is required for the class, is $15 through Amazon.com or Adyashanti.org, and includes a CD of guided meditations.

Applications are now being accepted for artists wishing to participate in the Payson Art League’s annual ’Neath the Rim Open Studio Tour to be held May 4, 5, 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Local artists open their studios to the public to meet the artist in his/her own environment and to learn about the creative process. Artwork is available for sale and during the tour artists are encouraged to hold ongoing demonstrations.
