Time Out Thrift Shop sale

Take “time out to shop” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on First Friday, Feb. 3 at the Time Out Thrift Shop, 500 S. Beeline Highway (across from Wendy’s).

Everything in the shop and on the sidewalk will be at least 50 percent off. Shoppers can also buy tickets for the Sweetheart Raffle at 25 cents each or five for $1. The prize is a $25 gift certificate from the Time Out Thrift Shop.

Chili relleno supper

Food and entertainment are planned at the Presbyterian Church for First Friday. A chili relleno casserole will be served, along with beans, chips, dessert and drink from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St. 

Eat in and enjoy the music of “Anything Goes” or get your dinner to go, only $5 a plate. All proceeds go to the children’s programs at the Community Presbyterian Child Learning Center.

First Friday

Lovers of antiques, art, fun and much more are invited to First Friday at Bootleg Alley Antiques & Art.

John Carpino performs and the Humane Society will be selling raffle tickets and accepting donations. Head to 520 W. Main St. for “Date Night” First Friday, Feb. 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

‘Art from the Heart’

Down the Street Art Gallery’s “Art from the Heart” Valentine’s event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., First Friday, Feb. 3, will feature their newest artist, Jim McBride.

McBride is new to the Payson area and is a self-taught oil painter, inspired by nature . Meet him and the other artists making “Art from the Heart” and enjoy some chocolate treats. The gallery is located at 703 W. Main St.

Marine biology tour benefit

There will be an enormous rummage sale and pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Walmart parking lot to raise money to send area students on a Pacific coast marine biology tour.

Brush pit schedule

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:

Saturday, Feb. 4 the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.

Sunday, Feb. 5 the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

Humorous answers for the guilt-plagued

Author and speaker Jo Russell answers the question, “How Can I Put the Guilt Gene In Its Place?” in a short, humorous talk 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at Oasis Christian Books and Gifts, 512 S. Beeline Highway, Payson.

Russell will be signing her book “Which Button Do You Push to Get God to Come Out? A Humorous Devotional for Women” from 10 a.m. to noon, also at Oasis.

Recital

The music students of Alana Wallace will have their annual recital at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4 at Mountain Bible Church, Building C, 302 E. Rancho Road. There is no charge and all are welcome. Please call (928) 472-7689 if you have any questions.

Benefit at the Buffalo

John Carpino and the Hot Cappuccinos will be providing live music for the benefit and fund-raising event for Payson cancer patient Jaci Hill, Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Buffalo Bar and Grill in Payson. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Southern Gospel concert

Kevin Spencer, noted Southern Gospel singer, will be performing live and in concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at the Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway. Everyone is invited. There is no admission charge, but a freewill offering will be taken.

Supervisor meeting

The Gila County Supervisors will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7 in Payson at 610 E. Highway 260, and in Globe at 1400 E. Ash St. On the agenda: approving construction on Pine Creek Canyon Road and county payment for Gila Community College facilities utility and repair expenses.

At the Senior Circle

The Payson Regional Medical Center Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, will host a screening of the movie The Help from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7. There will also be popcorn and sodas available.
