Star Valley will take another step forward in the purchase of a local water company Tuesday when it is expected the council will vote to set up a checking account for the new department.
Star Valley will officially be in charge of the nearly 400-hookup water department, now owned by Brooke Utilities, May 1. Town staff has been going through the laborious process of transferring the water company for months. In October, the town announced Brooke had agreed to sell the water company for $775,000.
Since then, the council and staff have been busy establishing water rates, hiring a water operator, setting up a billing system and learning everything they can about running a water system.
The council will also discuss adopting a discount prescription drug card. The 6:30 p.m. meeting takes place at 3675 E. Highway 260 in Star Valley.
