Read Across America Events Celebrate Dr. Seuss On March 2


Rim Country libraries will be celebrating Dr. Seuss this week with Read Across America events Friday, March 2.

At the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library is Pine; the festivities are from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Participants will enjoy crafts; a drawing for Seuss books (winners must be present); contests and refreshments; plus a chance to have a photo with the Cat in the Hat.

The crafts will include making a Cat in the Hat hat; a foot print color sheet from The Foot Book and there will be an activity book to take home.

The contest is counting the candies in a jar and the winner gets to take the jar of candy home.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

The Cat is back at the Payson Public Library, which will once again participate in the Reading Across America program with a family adventure for Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Friday, March 2.

The program is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature a hot dog dinner with chips, punch and a cookie available for $1, prizes, face painting, crafts and stories. The stories will start at 6:30 p.m.

Another Dr. Seuss event will be held at Payson Elementary School from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., Friday, March 9. Parents, grandparents and guardians are invited to bring a camera to take pictures of their children with a special guest.

The PES Seuss event is part of its Luau Scholastic Book Fair, which is being held from Monday, March 5 through Friday, March 9 (see details elsewhere).
