The Payson Elks meet at 7 p.m., the first and third Thursday of each month at the Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline Highway.

Payson Area Computer group
The Payson Area Computer Association will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library.
The guest speaker is Gene Barlow of St. George, Utah who will discuss “Sharing, Protecting and Organizing your Hard Drive.” At the end of the meeting, he will offer a free software product to each of the attendees to monitor the well-being of their own hard drive.

Ponderosa Men’s Breakfast

For those unable to attend noon meetings, the Rim Country Republican Club is now offering evening and day meetings each month. The speaker will be District 1 County Supervisor Tommie Cline Martin, who will provide an update on the events impacting the county.

Rim Country Optimist Club
The Rim Country Optimist Club works in a variety of ways to help youth in the community.
The Optimist Club has made some significant changes in its meeting place and times. It will be meeting at Cedar Ridge Restaurant (at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino) at 5:30 p.m., the first and third Mondays.
The general meeting will be held on the first Monday with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and often will include a speaker at 6 p.m. The board meeting will be held the third Monday at 5:30 p.m. However, because of the holiday, the general meeting is taking place at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9 at Cedar Ridge. The speaker will be Jennifer Baltz, director of Payson Habitat for Humanity. She will be speaking on a neighborhood revitalization initiative for Habitat.

Photography/Camera Club to meet
The Rim Country Photography/ Camera Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9. Thomas Brossart will be the featured presenter at this meeting, discussing black and white photography. Brossart is the editor of the Payson Roundup and has several years of experience as a professional photographer.
The meeting is open to all those interested in photography and there is no charge to attend. The club meets at the Rim Country Health & Retirement Center, 807 W. Longhorn Road. Rim Area Gardeners to meet Jan. 9
Rim Area Gardeners meet at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway.
The Jan. 9 meeting will feature Glen McCombs from Plant Fair Nursery, who will discuss how to “Name That Tree.” Bring photos of trees you would like identified. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Join the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse
The Gila County Sheriff’s Posse is looking for new members.
The Posse was founded back in 1967 as a volunteer group to serve the Sheriff and the people of Gila County. The Posse is called on for many emergencies such as forest fires, floods and snow.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse building, located just north of Main Street on McLane Road. The public is invited.
