Intentions Are Good, But No New Year’S Resolution

Six days gone already in the New Year!

I have now been writing this column for 11 years! The time has flown by but I have enjoyed every word that I have written. I hope that you as my readers feel that way too.

Have you thought about new resolutions yet? I have not, because I never keep them.

My intentions are good, but my will is weak. The one thing that I will try very hard at is to eat more natural foods and to stay away from processed foods and to stay away from take-out. Our second daughter, Eileen, is trying to go totally organic and natural and she is trying very hard to show me how to read labels and to teach me what ingredients are harmful. Our kids are truly smarter than we are. Well, maybe in some things.

Hellsgate Fire Department

The January meeting of the Hellsgate Fire Board will be on Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the Star Valley fire station. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.

The position for a ‘paid on call’ firefighter is open and interviews will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Star Valley fire station on 80 S. Walters Lane. The interviews will start at 9 a.m. This is a good opportunity to start with the Hellsgate Fire Department.

Last week, Karen, ‘our mail lady’ said she would like to thank her customers for everyone’s help in picking up the mail in a timely manner due to the overload of mail for the Christmas season.

Karen would like to thank everyone for their cooperation, it really helped her deliver all of the packages besides the letters during the busy season.

Karen says, “thanks and everyone was great!”

Birthdays, etc.

Laura Bierwirth starts off the second week of January when she celebrates her birthday on Jan. 11. Laura hails from Christopher Creek in the summertime and Payson in the winter. Laura has become an avid Domino Diva. She makes the trip to the Village every chance she gets to join the other Domino Divas on Wednesday afternoons.

Hellsgate firefighter Rick Heron will celebrate his birthday on Friday, Jan. 13. For Rick, it will be a ‘lucky’ day.

Phon and Dara Sutton of Bear Flat will celebrate 32 years of marriage on Jan. 12. They are a very special couple and I wish them congratulations and much love to you both on your anniversary.

May you spend the rest of your lives traveling hand in hand. Happy anniversary!

Laverne Belcher of Bear Flat lost her brother Doug Belcher on Dec. 27. Doug was a mechanic in the Payson area for many years.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Condolences to you, Laverne, in this time of sorrow.

Double D Doings

The results of the pool competitions have been overlooked because of the holidays, but there are results from two weeks ago for the gals that play on Tuesday evenings. Judy Tolle of Christopher Creek shot for first place followed by Melissa Janssen and Linda Stailey. The games should be regular from now on now that the holidays are behind us.

TWIG meeting

The start of the New Year also starts up the Twig meetings moderated by Rev. Larry Fultz.

The first meeting will be on Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Planning and Zoning building, across from Fargo’s Restaurant.

The meeting starts at 3 p.m. If you would like to have more information concerning this group, contact Rev. Larry Fultz, 31005 N. 48th Street, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. His telephone number is (489) 595-6741.
