Arlene Keefer won the quilt raffle at the Mogollon Health Alliance Auxiliary’s annual holiday party. The raffle raised $742 for the health scholarship fund and other MHA programs. The quilt was hand pieced by Kay Yeager and machine quilted by Carol Green.

Payson Elks

Elks members and guests are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; Friday dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday dinner from noon to 5 p.m.

Basic refreshments are offered for sale at the Karaoke Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 18 and 25 and during Elks Jam Sessions, scheduled at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14 and 28. Elks members and guests are also welcome at these events.

The Payson Elks meet at 7 p.m., the first and third Thursday of each month at the Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline Highway.

Payson Womans Club

The Payson Womans Club, the oldest service club in Payson, holds general membership meetings at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Payson Womans Club building, 510 W. Main St. Membership is open to local women ages 18 and up.

Payson Masonic Lodge

Payson Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM meets every second Tuesday of the month. Dinner for members, their families and guests is at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. All members of the fraternity are invited to attend the meetings.

Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Bereaved parents support group

The Compassionate Friends offers hope, reassurance and a safe place to talk about our children with others who understand the pain of losing a child. Anyone who has lost a child (or grandchild) at any time, at any age is welcome to attend.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 102 W. Roundup, Suite D.

Join the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse

The Gila County Sheriff’s Posse is looking for new members.

The Posse was founded back in 1967 as a volunteer group to serve the Sheriff and the people of Gila County. The Posse is called on for many emergencies such as forest fires, floods and snow.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse building, located just north of Main Street on McLane Road. The public is invited.

Beyond Limits

The First Church of the Nazarene at 200 E. Tyler Parkway will host the Beyond Limits meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10. Participants will be treated to a free dinner, music and an inspirational message to begin the New Year. Families and care providers are welcome.

A Course in Miracles Study Group

A Course in Miracles Study Group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays. Participation is by donation.

Tea Party Bulldogs

There is a new group in town, The Tea Party Bulldogs. It is a discussion group that will tackle local issues of concern and come up with an action plan.

It meets at Wolf Den Espresso, 612 N. Beeline Highway, at noon Wednesday, Jan. 11. The topic will be: Is the State Legislature selling off Arizona?

Payson Rimstones Rock Club

Payson Rimstones Rock Club will meet in the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road.

The board meeting is at 2 p.m. and the regular meeting is at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The guest speaker will be Robert Higginbotham from Payson Jewelers, speaking on steps that are needed to purchase quality gems and jewelry.

New Hope Grief Support Group

The New Hope Grief Support Group is for those who have lost a spouse. It meets from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson.

Nar-Anon for relatives and friends of addicts 

If you are concerned about drug use by a family member or friend, Nar-Anon may be for you. 

Nar-Anon is a twelve-step program designed to help relatives and friends of addicts recover from the effects of living with an addicted relative or friend. The only requirement to be a member and attend Nar-Anon meetings is that there is a problem of drugs or addiction in a relative or friend. Nar-Anon is not affiliated with any other organization or outside entity.

In Payson the group meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at 408 W. Main St., Suite 11 (around the back of the building)

The Zane Grey Kiwanis and its Young Professionals group invite anyone interested in learning more about the organizations, which are dedicated to helping Rim Country children, to attend one of the meetings.
