As we drove, we looked at the wonderful and inspiring Tonto Forest and beautiful snow-covered Mogollon Rim we left behind, it was painful.
Our family had pressed us to “come home” to Minnesota. After discussing it, we felt it was in our best interest to go.
Both Jim and I enjoyed our 15 years in Payson. Both of us had the pleasure of serving the community in many ways. We will never forget Payson and all our wonderful friends.
Now we sit in our son’s home near Rochester, Minn. and think of Payson and our friends especially at: St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Northern Gila County Historical Society, the Payson Public Library, Payson Town Hall, Payson Roundup, Humane Society, our old neighborhood and many other friends.
Jim and I have been inspired and try to live by this quote by George Bernard Shaw:
“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.”
