Editor:
I presume the Payson Roundup is not on the approved newspaper list to print “advertise call for bids” for Gila County. It would seem to me that northern Gila County continues to pay a lot in taxes to Globe.
As the Pine Creek Canyon Road construction project is happening in our neck of the woods, it surely would be appropriate for the invitation for bids to be printed in the Payson area as well.
We have companies here in northern Gila County that also need work, and surely the costs would be lower if the contractor did not have a long commute.
Why the notice is only being printed in the Silverbelt newspaper in Globe makes no sense to me, we are after all paying for it, local qualified contractors should be able to find out about it via our newspaper.
For your information, I have given below the link to the Gila County agenda Web site, and by following the link (agenda Jan. 10, section E) you can read the request for bid #111311-1 for yourself.

I e-mailed Chairman Tommie Martin about this and most likely will not get a response.

Editor’s note: Legal notices from Gila County are awarded using a bid process. Although the Roundup was not awarded the bid to print county notices, we do provide a link on our Web site, payson.com, so that our readers may access legal notices that have been printed in any paper that is a member of the Arizona Newspaper Association. The link is called “ANA Public Notices.”
