Gear up for another Zumbathon — get out those red workout clothes and spread the Valentine’s Day love for your neighbors Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St. Proceeds will benefit the Payson Christian Clinic, which serves area residents unable to afford care from other health care providers. For more information, or to print out a pledge form, go to the Rim Country Health Web site, which is sponsoring the event, www.rimcountryhealth.com. The event begins with a mini-lesson on Zumba at 9:45 a.m. This will be followed by two hours of Latin fitness dance. The first hour will be devoted to the Zumba Gold program, which is a slower pace, with the second hour all about regular Zumba. The Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store at 3916 N. Highway 87 in downtown Pine (at the community center) is having sales Jan. 25 to Jan. 28 on ladies’ and men’s blazers, suits and jackets at 50 percent off the marked prices. Adult shoes will be 50 cents a pair.

From Feb. 1 to Feb. 4, Valentine’s and home décor will be featured and there will be a bag sale of clothing for $2 a bag.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. To arrange to have donations collection, call (928) 476-4633.

Give Back Day for food drive

Chili’s will be hosting a Give Back Day for the Payson Area Food Drive on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Please pick up a flyer at Chili’s or the Payson Roundup and bring it in on Jan. 25 and Chili’s will donate 10 percent of the sales to the Payson Area Food Drive (must bring flyer with you).

Mayor Kenny Evans will be at this event from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. to speak with members of the community.

Kaitie’s Closet distribution

There will be a Kaitie’s Closet distribution from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Rim Country Middle School, 304 S. Meadow Lane. 

Child singers wanted

Children in kindergarten through the fifth-grade who like to sing are invited to come to Payson United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

There is no registration fee and participants will learn fun, active songs.

Forest Service to host workshop on applying for jobs

The Kaibab and Coconino National Forests are offering a workshop at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26 on the Northern Arizona University campus in order to provide information on available Forest Service jobs and how to apply for them.

The workshop will be in the Undergraduate Computer Lab (Room 109) on the second floor of the Southwest Forest Science Complex. The workshop is open to any member of the public who is interested in working for the Forest Service. Public parking is available anytime after 4:30 p.m. in Parking Lot P46.

The focus of the workshop will be to provide guidance and training on applying for permanent and seasonal Forest Service jobs. Current employees will be available to provide tips and training on the application process. To be considered for employment, applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time they begin work.
