A man sought for questioning in the death of his mother crashed the car he was driving into a tree Jan. 21 near milepost 295 on Highway 260. The man later died from his injuries.
Fair to partly cloudy skies continue for the Heber Overgaard area with lows dipping into the lower 20s and daytime highs reaching into the lower to mid 50s.
The continued outlook shows no precipitation during the next few days.
On Saturday, Jan. 21 Heber-Overgaard Fire Department and Forest Lakes Fire Department responded to an accident on Highway 260 at milepost 295 involving a Cadillac driven by Greg Bilton who was wanted for questioning about the death of his mother, 80, of Chandler.
The vehicle struck a tree at a high rate of speed and the driver died en route to the hospital.
Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash and the Chandler Police Department is investigating the homicide.
On Feb. 4 the Hashknife Pony Express riders will be on hand at Heber Overgaard Chamber of Commerce.
There will be birthday cake and drinks served with pictures and souvenirs.
On Feb. 8, the annual Hashknife Pony Express will ride into Heber Overgaard from Holbrook on Highway 277 and make a left at Mogollon Drive and make their way to the Overgaard post office for mail pickup.
From there, they will then travel to the parking lot of Skyline Realty for a break. Souvenirs and photo opportunities will be available at that location before the Hashknife Pony Express continues with a stop at the Heber post office and then on to Payson.
