Gila Community College’s (GCC) workhorse nursing program got a boost recently, with the donation of 20 IV pumps by Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center (CVRMC) in Globe.
GCC and the medical center have partnered in the past to help train urgently needed nurses, which remain in short supply — especially in rural areas. The timely donation helps to stabilize and sustain all of the allied health care programs at GCC.
Students will use the IV pumps in the nursing skills lab, a critical component of the training for aspiring nurses.
GCC also works with the CVRMC to provide clinical training for Registered Nursing students. This partnership has been in place for seven years.
GCC Senior Dean Stephen Cullen notes, “Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center is a valued partner in providing quality post-secondary education and training.”
