While some Payson Men’s Golf Association members battled in the annual club championship, others locked horns in a series of three low net tournaments.

“Everyone played on the first day (July 11) of the club championship and as they were eliminated, played in the low net tournaments,” said PMGA president Steve Vincent.

In the July 18 low net shootout, Russ Morris swung to top honors with a net 63.

By carding a 67, Ross Robertson was second. Alex Armenta’s 68 was good enough for third place.

In the closest-to-the-pin contests, Jack Proietto won on No. 2, Terry Lindsey took honors on No. 5 and Terry Gaden pocketed prize money on No. 8.

On No. 14, Ed Kuhns was the winner and Mike McKee took honors on No. 17.

In the PMGA’s weekly “best dressed” contest, Benny Burns was a winner.
